Thrombosis service
The Anticoagulation Clinic is a member of the Dutch Federation of Anticoagulation Clinics and is always aware of new developments through the Federation’s bulletin.
Membership of the Federation also means that participation in the Federation’s quality control is mandatory. This control consists of a bi-monthly determination of blood samples that are sent to the Netherlands and whose results are also determined at a central laboratory in the Netherlands. The results are then compared with each other. In addition, our pricking point and laboratory are visited once every two years from the Netherlands for a general check-up.
The puncture point of The Dutch Thrombosis Service is located in:
Benidorm Rincón de Loix
Euro Clínica Rincón
C/ dr. Severo Ochoa, 6 – Rincón de Loix (next to Supermercado Día)
(+34) 966 830 849
Monday and Thursday from 8.30h to 09.30h you can visit us for INR check-up.
Home pricking is done only in situations where it is necessary.
Those going to the Dutch Thrombosis Service for the first time are requested to bring the following information:
- your health insurance card
- holiday letter from the thrombosis service in the Netherlands
- your last dosage card
- your home address in Spain
- any telephone and/or fax number in Spain.
Advice thrombosis service patients:
A significant proportion of patients turn out to have much too thin blood at their first check-up in Benidorm. That is why we advise you to do the first check-up quickly and not wait for weeks.
Advice: within 10 days of arrival.
We also advise you to contact a doctor or the thrombosis service immediately in case of:
- Accidents
- Injuries or bleeding
- Nosebleeds
- Blood in urine or stools (black stools)
- Bruising
- Suddenly arising painful swellings
- Coughing up or vomiting blood
- Uncertainties and questions
We also ask you to report the above incidents at the next check-up by the anticoagulation clinic:
- Dental procedures such as pulling, implants and gum treatments, BEFORE they take place!
- Medical interventions and hospitalisation
- Change in alcohol consumption, either more or less or stop!
- Any changes in your medicine use
- If you forget the tablets once
The result
You will receive the results and dosage on the same day. When you return to your own anticoagulation clinic in the Netherlands, you will be given a letter with the results and doses in Spain.
