Laboratory testing

At Euro Clínica Rincón, you can have your blood drawn and also hand in other materials intended for laboratory tests. Our outpatient clinic cooperates with a local research laboratory for this purpose.

There is no need to make an appointment for blood tests or the collection of other materials such as urine and faeces. You can drop by Monday to Friday between 8.30 a.m. and 12 noon. After 12h00, we unfortunately cannot serve you anymore, as all laboratory materials are collected by a courier and taken to the research laboratory around that time. Materials cannot be kept until the next day.

We appreciate hygienic packaging of urine and faeces. You can collect a sterile jar for this purpose free of charge during our opening hours. These jars are also available at the pharmacy. Some tests require you to be sober. This means that you must not eat or drink anything for 12 hours before the examination (you may drink water). Your doctor will inform you about this. You may take your medication, unless your doctor has expressly told you not to.

The study

You will be called by the doctor’s assistant for blood sampling. You will be asked for your name and date of birth again to rule out mistaken identity and to ensure that your doctor receives the correct results. After attaching a tourniquet to your arm, one or more tubes of blood will be taken. The assistant will sometimes ask you to make a fist while doing this. After the blood sample has been taken, it is important to keep pressure on the puncture site for a minute to prevent bleeding (bruising). Sometimes a bruise does occur. This is unpleasant, but the bruise will disappear on its own after a few days. There is no need to worry about it.
