General X-ray examination
In an X-ray examination, pictures are taken using X-rays. This reveals the hard parts of your body (such as bones) and can diagnose fractures and certain other abnormalities. An X-ray examination is performed after referral from a (general) physician.
Pregnancy
If you are or think you are pregnant, please contact the doctor who requested the examination beforehand. During pregnancy, we prefer not to take X-rays.
The study
The radiology laboratory technician will carry out the examination. To enable the radiologist to assess the photos properly, the laboratory assistant will need to place you in different positions. Once the photos have been taken, the radiology lab technician will ask you to wait in the waiting room. If the photos are good, the radiology laboratory technician will tell you that the examination is over and you can go home.
Results of the study
The results of the examination will be sent within 24 hours to the doctor who requested the examination. Your (primary) physician will inform you further.
